“The Productivity Planner has completely changed the way I work. It has helped me prioritize my life for the vital few things that are important. Before using it, often I would let my calendar and to-do list run my day and never felt like I was getting the important stuff done.”

Vanessa Van Edwards

Author Behavioral Investigator, Science of People

• Accomplish what’s important, not busywork: The Productivity Planner focuses you on less tasks per day, the most important tasks that move you closer to your goals, dreams, and big wins.

• Helps you avoid distractions: You’ll work in shorter, more focused bursts called Pomodoros that will make sure you are not diluting your energy or worse, wasting your time.

• Weekly Planning + Reflection: At the start of each week, the Productivity Planner helps you plan your week for success. At the end of each day and week you will reflect on how effective you were, helping you learn your patterns, and improve for tomorrow.

Watch the video to learn more how the Productivity Planner works.

A structured format to get you focused on quality tasks over quantity.

The Productivity Planner combines completing your Most Important First (The Ivy Lee method that made Charles Schwab millions) with the Pomodoro Technique to stay focused on your task at hand. Goals research from Dominican university has shown, those who write their goals down are more likely to follow through.

There are 5 daily pages per week, and 23 weeks. A total of 115 daily pages + weekly planning + weekly reviews. It is created for 6 months of planning.

The planner does not include a calendar, but has weekly planning and weekly review pages. Each daily page also includes room for notes.

The Productivity Planner's main purpose is to help you accomplish your most important tasks of the week, not just another to-do list that is neatly organized :)

Post-traumatic Stress Disorder is a reaction to highly stressful or traumatic events. People who suffer from PTSD often relive the experience through nightmares and flashbacks, have difficulty sleeping, and feel detached or estranged.

1 out of 6 veterans of Afghanistan or Iraq battles PTSD. Due to the stigma surrounding PTSD, many sufferers don’t seek help. But we can change that. PTSD is treatable.

If you or someone you know suffers from PTSD, seek help. It is a sign of strength, not weakness, to seek help for PTSD.

If you need to talk to someone who understands, call the National Vet Center at 877-927-8387. Calls are answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by combat veterans who will care and understand.

Bassler’s latest work, shown at her studio at The Hub on Merrymeeting Road, will be on exhibition at The Baccalieu Gallery in Heart’s Content July 21-31.

Terrice Bassler displays fish magnets she made.

Terrice Bassler: “I just think the word ‘vessel’, of course, it’s a seafaring term. You know, it’s got that double meaning of a seafaring vessel, and also because the term ‘vessel’, to me, so honours what pottery is – it’s a container, it’s a holder, it’s a vessel. It’s not a dish.”

Terrice Bassler says creating pottery is like meditating: “It’s a centring. It’s the first thing you do with clay, is centre it on the wheel before you do anything else.”

Terrice Bassler’s hands are wet with clay as she sits at her pottery wheel.

The sun and a warm breeze come through the open window of her studio at The Hub on Merrymeeting Road.

She delights in the noon hour when the Sound Symposium’s Harbour Symphony — music made with the coordination of ship’s horns in St. John’s harbour — seems to sail through the window with the breeze.

In many ways, Bassler’s most recent work is like those ships— as their joyful horns sound while in port, her upcoming pottery exhibition ‘The Vessel Homecoming’ is also a celebration of a vessel — of a different type — at home.

In her latest work, when Bassler refers to a vessel it’s sometimes difficult to ascertain whether she means a boat or a jug — perhaps she means both.

“You can see that I like multiple meanings,” she laughs.

“I just think the word ‘vessel’, of course, it’s a seafaring term. You know, it’s got that double meaning of a seafaring vessel, and also because the term ‘vessel’, to me, so honours what pottery is — it’s a container, it’s a holder, it’s a vessel. It’s not a dish.”

As Bassler sits at the wheel, moistening a newly formed creation with a sponge, she says pottery is like meditating.

“It’s a centring. It’s the first thing you do with clay, is centre it on the wheel before you do anything else.”

It’s a change from what she spent most of her life doing.

Raised in rural New York state, she studied at McGill University and eventually earned a master’s degree in public administration. That work took her internationally working with the World Bank and the Open Society Institute.

Bassler has lived or worked in China, Eastern Europe, South Africa, the Balkans, and at last ending up in Pakistan.

“Those were all places with strong vessel traditions,” she says.

Those travels inspire her more recent work as a potter.

She’s been creating pottery for about 10 years but opened Pottery with Purpose five years ago.

Her work is sold at Murray’s Gardens and Nova Yoga, and much of it she contributes to fundraisers, such as the Islaview Foundation.

But throughout the years, she’s been doing what she calls “downloading” all of her internationally-curated inspirations into her work, and now it’s time to bring it all home in ‘The Vessel Homecoming’ at The Baccalieu Gallery in Heart’s Content from July 21 - 31.

“I did have this image of an explorer, a traveller, a seafarer kind of coming back with their trunk, and so we’re going to actually stage the show that way.

“It will be quite colourful, quite alive, and moving from an organic, beach setting into what, if you were unpacking, would be the kind of exotic thing to bring home. Like, ‘Look what I found when we stopped in…’ — that kind of thing, and I imagine this sort of old journey in a vessel.”

Tables at Bassler’s studio overflow with the work.

Blue jugs with driftwood attached are juxtaposed with deep red bowls topped with wooden spoons from South Africa.

At the gallery, there’ll be an open trunk, and the pottery will overflow from it like sailors offloading wares.

The Baccalieu Gallery owner and artist Jeanette Jobson said Bessler’s work fits perfectly with her vision for the gallery.

“Everything in the gallery has a link to water, or has some connection to water,” says Jobson.

Indeed, the gallery itself sits a stone’s throw from Trinity Bay.

The exhibition’s opening reception is July 21 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Meanwhile, Bassler says she still continues creating commissioned work.

“What I really love is being able to offer something of beauty and grace and utility and have it go home with someone… and to know that what I make and what I offer can have that kind of a life is just great – it’s clay that becomes a human connection.

“I could never do that with a report or a policy paper,” she laughs.
